Ahh, Summer’s on its way…

We opened our pool early last week, just in time for a springtime heatwave!  It was 90 degrees here over the weekend!  Though neither of the dogs are swimmers, they are not often very far from the edge when people are in the pool.  Our nephews came to visit,  so there was plenty of action at poolside – splashing, barking, wet noses and wet paws!  Ahh, summer…I can feel it…just around the corner.  🙂

Ginger was back for her second round of chemo today,  and seems to be doing quite well.  She isn’t as tired this time, which is nice.  This was her second dose of Carboplatin.  She gets one more of those, then 3 doses of Adriamycin and then we’re done.  She was on antibiotics last week due to a low white blood cell count discovered during one of the interim blood tests,  but everything was in range today, so she got her second dose.

Except for the ride to the hospital – which is a nightmare – everything is going very smoothly, so far.  Ginger has had lots of energy, and has a great time rolling and running in the yard.  It is really hard to believe that she is sick!

🙂

  1. glad to hear number two is in the books for you!! hope you continue to handle all this doctor stuff well – but that doesn’t mean you can’t finnaggle a treat now and then. i’m not a ‘water dog’ either, don’t know how i’d react around a pool, but it does sound like it could be fun. take it easy (i of course recommend a post chemo nap or two), glad you’re doing so well!!! gayle

  2. Summer is certainly here in Texas! Time to head North. Thanks for the great update and cooling thoughts.

  3. Glad Ginger’s doing so well! Run, Ginger, run!!!

Ninety degrees! Is that above 0? We had a blinding snowstorm yesterday that dumped a heap of wet snow over us. It looks like January outside right now. I had to doublecheck the calendar to make sure it was in fact May. Soooo disappointing. Soooo envious.

  4. Ginger!

So glad you had a good day and got to hang out in the pool with all your nephews!!!

    Keep feeling good sweetie!! 🙂

  5. Don’t mind Catie’s mom – she’s a ‘wanna be meteorologist’ – very freaky about her weather!

Ginger, you are a doin’ great! Pool pawrties are meant to have fun on the sidelines. Plus, you don’t wanna get your hair all mucked up by getting in the pool!!

    Keep up the good work!

That’s me choking from having my chain yanked so hard.

  7. Hi Ginger – so glad to hear that you’re doing so well after your 2nd treatment. That’s pawesome! Also sounds like a lot of fun hangin’ by the pool with your cousins. It’s been in the high 80’s where we live in LA (pssst…but don’t tell Carmen – she may get a little crazy) . Don’t you just love it? 🙂

Keeping our paws crossed that you keep feeling good Ginger and your next round goes well too!

  8. What?? A Goldie who does not like water … doesn’t swim? Isn’t that just against nature? When my dogs were younger – it was hard to keep them out of the jetted tub in my bathroom ! 🙂 Nothing like trying to bathe with 2 Goldens trying to get in the tub with you….

Glad to hear that Ginger is doing so well – Way to Go Ginger !

  9. Hi Ginger – Ginger here. Glad to hear your second round of chemo went well. I go against the Goldie nature too and don’t like water.

Make sure to fit in some rest time after all that rolling around in the yard and basking in the warm sun.

  10. Yay, Ginger! We hope you continue to do well with your chemo. Two down is a big milestone – time for treats!
